Many
support groups assure you that, "You are not alone," and
this is very true. You are not alone! But at WNC Brain Tumor Support
we have changed that thought to;
"You don't have
to be alone!"

My
name is Bridgette Shope and I was diagnosed with an anaplastic
astrocytoma - Grade III on November 18, 1998. After not receiving
much hope in Asheville, my husband and I looked for treatment
outside the box. The Lord strongly led us to North Carolina
Baptist Hospital at Wake Forest. I ended up with one of the
best radiation/oncologist in the world, Dr. Edward Shaw. The
team of doctors went to work on my case and before I knew
I was doing much better. They saved my life along with the
guidance of the Lord. I think I was spared to become a testment
to others going through this horrible disease. At the present
time I have a few side affects from my chemo, but otherwise
I'm doing good. Since my diagnosis, I do not work except to
try and take care of my little girl, Kirsten and my husband,
Scott.
I have learned
alot of things from my disease, mostly postive. I would relive
it again to come out with the insight that my family and I
have learned about life. Western North Carolina Brain Tumor
Support has been a wonderful way of lending a helping hand
to those newly diagnosed. I have learned through the Group
that everyday is a blessing from above. All of our members
are true examples of courage, strength and the fight for time
until they come up with a cure for this disease.
God Bless All,
Bridgette
