ASHEVILLE'S 2nd ANNUAL CURE THE KIDS RADIOTHON
RAISES MORE THAN $61,000 FOR PBTF

(ASHEVILLE, N.C.) The second annual Cure the Kids Radiothon was a big success, raising more than $61,000 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Broadcast live from the Asheville Mall on 99.9 Kiss Country, the 30-hour event brought hope and much-needed research funds to the pediatric brain tumor community.

"The excitement, the passion and the love that came from all who attended and those that called in truly made this event a tremendous success," said Aggie Alexander, PBTF director of development.

"The overwhelming response from the listeners, the mall customers and the businesses that supported this event will make a huge difference in the lives of children who are desperately battling their brain tumors and bring a greater awareness of this most devastating of all cancers."

Thanks to our sponsors & volunteers
A terrific group of sponsors, local businesses and volunteers made the radiothon possible. In addition to 99.9 Kiss Country and the Asheville Mall, special thanks go to premier sponsor Charter Communications, tote board sponsors Dixon Hughes and Wealth Advisor Group.

Our hourly sponsors--Tom Johnson Camping Center, Progress Energy, Biltmore Press, Asheville Renaissance, Tarrants Agency-Allstate, Parsec Financial, Frankie Bones and Bank of America--donated funds as well as hundreds of hours of employee time.

A huge thanks also goes out to the 99.9 Kiss Country morning crew, Eddie Foxx and Dawne Davis, for their relentless energy and passion over the 30-hour broadcast.

Curing the kids together
The radiothon raised a total of $61,476 through telephone and internet donations, an online auction, gift baskets, and cash gifts.

"This event brought new hope to children with brain tumors and awareness to the challenges they face in their quest to find normalcy and the ability to move forward with their lives," said PBTF President Mike Traynor. "We're grateful to Kiss Country and their generous listeners for allowing us to raise the necessary funds to advance our research and family support programs."

The next Cure the Kids Radiothon takes place in Phoenix, Ariz., Feb. 22-23 at the Chandler Fashion Center. It will be broadcast live on KSLX from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Western NC Brain Tumor Support Members

Dear George and WNCBTS Members:

On behalf of the pediatric brain tumor patients of WNC, and those throughout the world, we thank each of you for your tremendous support of the work of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and in particular your help with our recent 99.9 Kiss Country/PBTF Asheville Radiothon.

“You gave your financial contributions to help in our research and family support programs and perhaps even more important several of you came to give a cheer and your moral support during the 30 hour marathon Radiothon. Thanks to your caring help and support we have become the world leader in childhood brain tumor research as well as funding a significant amount of adult brain tumor research. Without you we could not have done so much in our work in the lab and the clinic!”

As brain tumor survivors, I believe each of you can appreciate the importance of what you are doing to help us achieve our success in finding new discoveries in Neuro Oncology.

It was an honor to have you visit us at the mall as your presence brought the importance of our work into clear focus. We wish each of you the very best and we pledge to stay hard at work to find the cause and cure of brain tumors.

Warmest wishes,

Mike Traynor
